We don’t just talk about environmental responsibility - we take action. as well as strictly complying with all environmental guidelines set out by the environmental Protection authority, we’re a participant in the federal Government’s voluntary Greenhouse challenge program. this requires us to monitor our greenhouse gas emissions with the aim of reducing them each year.

We’re also a member of environmental non-profit organisation, Greenfleet Australia. We have subscribed our entire fleet of corporate vehicles to the program, for which Greenfleet will plant trees, to offset the vehicle emissions, and help fight salinity and habitat loss in the Murray Darling Basin.

To play our part in easing the water crisis, we have installed a recycling system for all water that runs through our plateroom, as well as tanks to collect rain water from the plant roof. Together, these measures will save four million litres of drinking water each year.

And as participants in the Victorian Government’s Waste Wise program, we aim to reduce our landfill waste by a significant amount. All photography products, aluminium printing plates, rubber blankets and paper are currently recycled, and by mid 2008, all plastics, timbers, and paper dust collected from the binding lines will also be recycled.

But being environmentally responsible doesn’t end with our internal practices. We also work closely with our customers, suppliers and sub-contractors to help them find eco-friendly alternatives for their own businesses. For example, we can recommend environmentally sustainable papers and friendly vegetable-based inks, where suitable.

McPherson’s Printing Group has been a participant in the Greenhouse Challenge since 2003. We joined Greenfleet in 2005 and the Waste Wise program in 2007.
